Cats and Chickens...Who is the superior?

Social Circle, GA(Zone 7b)

I want to know your opinion on which animal is superior; cats or chickens?

Personally, I am a cat fan. But I have seen cats that shrink away when a chicken gets close. *scratches head* Well, here is a picture of my cat.

Picture is to small but cat looks nice. Have you taken her over to the pet forum. My Andre the demon child is over there all the time with his friends.(More nuts. LOL) I am also over there a lot. Also come join us on Florida forum if you have not already- we have a number of Gardeners form GA on there.

You will also find my on the orchid cactus forum. There I am Sandy the epi nut. LOL

This is a a topic of great interest on the forum. Most cats seem to defer to large adult chickens....but not all. But is that inferiority? Or prudence?

Cats for inside companionship, chickens for outside. My cats have been known to rub up against a rooster begging for affection -the look the rooster gives 'em is priceless.

Catscan - a definite desire to maintain an appearance of superiority!! That's my guess anyway.

Lodi, United States

Well, I do try...no, wait a minute. Who you talkin bout, grownut?

Clarkson, KY

Felis catus! Why, did you take it personally, birdwoman?

Lodi, United States

No. No. Of course not.

Cats are consitutionally superior--chickens are not. There, I have solved the whole problem!

Clarkson, KY

Superior solution...

Consider the source!

Clarkson, KY

Gah!! Give er an inch...What's Consitutionally?!

Lodi, United States

It is how I spell "constitutionally" when the Spelling Nazi is not around and I let my hair down.

I actually meant to write "inherently".

Clarkson, KY

Inhairently. The conclusion of this thread hijacking being that Cats is superior? Should I be a party to this?!!

Sorry, Advisrian -we're outta control, obviously

Lodi, United States

I thought you were the Grammar Police---Cats is--really!

Yea, sorry Advisrian--we are being bad...but what is your definition of superior?

Clarkson, KY

When Cats is a proper noun and entirely singular it is only right and proper to be followed by is. (She's smartin' off and I gotta get back at her, sorry Adv. Wild Night!)

Lodi, United States

You obviously do not know Cats--or you wouldn't go throwing around a word like "proper"--however, I am quite singular.

Please jump back in Adv.--we need your calm and steady hand to stop the madness.

Clarkson, KY

Proper only as a noun...

I saw this message and that you were from Social Circle and I did a double take! My title was only slightly different just a few weeks ago. To answer your question, mmmmm. Chickens are superior at making chicks and eggs and cats are.....superior -I'd say at catching mice, but my cats seem to think they are too good for it.

I have a new red stray though and my mouse population in the barn is imperceptible. Perhaps he will be the exception? He is a big healthy boy.

My chickens believe they are superior to my cats and chase them off if they get too close. I was always concerned about my cats going after chickens but it's the other way around, lol. My ducks also chase the cats. I have muscovy ducks, ameraucana and cuckoo marans, Now the chickens are afraid of my golden retriever BUT the ducks aren't and love to go up to him and bite his ears and neck and Fuller thinks it's a game and allows them to do it when I know the ducks aren't doing this for fun as they hiss at him, lol.

One thing thats obvious here is that such a goofy question, really does spawn a lot of goof answers. (esp by hijackers) shame, shame. Haystack.

Lodi, United States

Oh, we are ashamed. Didn't you read our pleas for intervention?--but when it is VERY late at night and no one else is around......

Catscan: Your incorrigible, However you do make me laugh. Have a great week-end. Haystack.

We have two cats, one indoors and one out. The one outside is a large orange tabby that is a loveable ol guy. The chickens will come on the porch and chase him away and eat his cat food. So sometimes when they are out roaming he will run through them making them cackle and run. I call it revenge for eating his cat food. You eat my cat food I'll scare you while your pecking and roaming.

Oh my God
My Cat just goes BESERK when ever she sees my chickens.
She is TERRIFIED of the two little hens. It is so funny watching her freak out!

Lodi, United States

So what have we decided?

I think cats are superior...but they have low self-esteem and the chickens tend to walk all over them.

My cats and my chickens lay together in hay that is in the barn. But then my indoor?outdoor cat is affraid of my son's pet rat. Remember the only thing I don't have is sheep.
