Fellow butterfliers - I received this email from a photo researcher who got my name and email from NABA.
I haven't raised any Painted Ladys so do not have the photographs they need. Perhaps some of ya'll can help the NSRC out. The photos are for a good cause - let's help educate our young children about the beauty of butterflies and promote conservation through education.

The National Science Resources Center (NSRC) is a not for profit organization, that is jointly managed by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Academies.
They are looking for two photos of the Painted Lady:
1. Caterpillar in J-Shape in final molt before chrysalis
2. a hanging, NEW chrysalis that is still green
for educational use in their book titled "Life Cycle of Butterflies" which is part of the NSRC Science and Technology for Children (STC) school curricula designed to enhance children’s literacy skills in the context of science and extending the lessons beyond the classroom for grades K-2. They are requesting a digital copies of possible images for print reproduction at 300 dpi or the highest resolution and size available; and permission to use them. The Smithsonian will provide a credit-line in the book with copyright, attribution, and website if desired. They will also provide free copy/copies of the book for your library.
