Dollie, this one has the genes I have been looking for. I want to be one of your first customers when this one comes out of quarantine! Too bad you can't transmit the fragrance.

Beautiful. Monika, sure does good work. What's it smell like?

Another Beauty!!!

I'm glad someone finally took the initiative to get this one in the states. I expect many will want to work with this multi-hybrid heavily doused in aurea genes. The single most important trait to me is fragrance and everything else takes a back seat to that. Well, almost everything else. With a tree this size, I am almost certain some pods have been set on this one already.

Coushatta, LA

I think all cross brugmansias are neat and beautiful, because you never know what color or shape you will have.

OOOhhhh.pretty...!!!

gorgeous!

Betty, I agree Goldkrone does have some excellent genes. I plan on using the pollen of Goldkrone alot getting my "Cajun Collection" started.
I'm going to sell a few imports on ebay, to help fund getting more German brugs to the states. For the most part, when the Dept of Ag. releases them I just want to share this beautiful Monika Gottschalk collection with others in the states.....and sneak a few across the border to my brug buddy in Canada :) My plan is to give 10 boxes of brugs to ABADS members, 5 boxes to BGI members, & 5 to DG members.

Starlight, The fragrance is hard to describe, almost like a combination of different fragrances....it has hints of citrus, fresh air, herbs & spices to name a few...the only way to describe is in a word....awesome!

Eric, Pods have been set on this brug, and some of my other imports. So far my inspector has left them to grow, but did stress it wasn't allowed. I look for him to pluck them any day. Like you, fragrance is high on my list of a # 1 trait in a brugmansia. You can grow out the prettiest brug around, but without fragrance it's just a plain brug to me. Monika's brugs that have bloomed for me so far, all have a wonderful scent throw.....Goldkrone being at the top of the list.

Kylie, Rosegirl, Nadine, & Debra thanks for your comments.

Drats. The pics here are all boxes with the dreaded red X

Does anyone know why this happens on the rare occassion??

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Do our chances of getting a box go up if we are members of all three groups? LOL

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Sorry Teresa, I don't have a clue. I've had the samething happen to me a few times. I'll send a picture to your private email.

Lol Betty, you bet it does :)

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Dollie, it is Beautiful!! Wish you could bottle up the fragrance and bring it with you on the 11th.... I don't think this one was in bloom when I was home last month, was it??

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Hi Trish! No, you missed the blooms. Remember how fragrant the imports GH was when you were down for a visit? Well, the scent throw is a 100 times stronger once Goldkrone produced blooms!! A very intoxicating fragrance.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

If it that much stronger. It must really be somethign powerful. : )

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

I need a little education.. the plant has to be quarantined? for how long? YOU have to take any seed pods off? Why? How could those hurt anything? Just trying to understand. Beautiful blooms.

Coushatta, LA

That must be one powerful brug............................

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Starlight & Rosegirl, this brug's fragrance is powerful stuff :) Trish Ann couldn't believe how highly fragrant my GH was while home for a visit. Goldkrone's scent is even better.

Tammie, Any plant material coming into the U.S. has to be inspected upon arrival, and inspected every 3 to 4 months by an inspector from the Dept. of Ag. The inspections are on going for a two year quarantine. It makes no sense to me about such a long quarantine period when these imports are noted to be healthy upon each inspection.

Someone else may have better information about the seedpods as to why they aren't legal. From what I understand, and I know very little on this subject is that the seedpods of imports may carry diseases. My inspector told me the pods were't allowed...but he didn't pluck them, nor have I.....he may do so on next visit.

Coushatta, LA

They just want to make sure their nothing wrong with them even though they are healthy.

Seeds... when will the madness end? Tell him you will leave the seed in quarantine... i.e. on the plant until the Brugmansia itself comes out of quarantine. Further reassure him that if the pods should happen to ripen slightly before your quarantine is over, that you will keep those seeds in quarantine.... inside a glass gar with the lid on top and said seed will be placed jar and all in the same pot with the quarantined Brugmansia until such time as the offending Brugmansia has come out of quarantine. Think that will help?

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Eric, thank you for this wonderful suggestion! It sounds like a good plan, and I will sure ask Toby. So far, he has left the seeds to grow, without anymore comments.

Victoria, BC(Zone 8a)

WOW! Dollie.... with a fragrance as you describe... Goldcrone must be a winner, for sure!!!! ♥
