fauna4flora, have a happy late birthday, and how beautiful Chantell, are they as fragrant as they are beautiful?

Thank you Caren and mqiq. Mqiq is right, please tell us how those Hoya smell! Maybe I'll wish it for my birthday next year......

Caren, thanks for your kind thoughts. I got behind on some things and still need to catch up - i.e. lots of brugs got root rot :-(. I need some time to organize, and am thinking of trading with just a few people next year. But, brugs are still alive, just need some TLC and looking forward to our great trades next year.

Made a ginger bread house with my "little" guy today. Ever done that? Not a flower, but fun to sniff!

How cool is that!! I have one that we just picked up the other day. Still in the box tho lol! Seeing yours make me want to pull it out now but I think we will have to wait for a weekend ;o)

Definitely a weekend, yes. I should have said "we just finished" ours today. Started it yesterday (out of school- water main broke) and it spilled into today. We needed extra icing, used up some of the Halloween candy (in addition to what they provide) and my cake decorating set came in really handy.

Have fun!

What an absolutely adorable & perfect gingerbread house!! Hmmm....me thinks I have to do that with my Chloe!!!! Great idea F4F!!!
As for the Lacunosa - I don't think of her as pretty - least not in the normal sense...nothing like Bella (see below a single from Bella's cluster) but the scent is simply magical! The bloom cluster is very small maybe the size of the tip of a lady's pinkie finger. I just checked mine and I've got at least 4-5 clusters forming - I'll try to get pics in the AM (when there's light). Lacunosa's one of the smaller - slow growing hoyas - I've had her for 5+ years and she's still in a 4" pot...although I've noticed increased growth rate since putting in a different spot where she gets more (filtered) sun. Her little bloom clusters can subtlety scent a small room. So many times I remember walking into my bedroom and thinking ahhhhh - what IS that scent...just barely lingering on the air - eventually I'd figure it out as I'd get closer to her...she "gets" me every time though. A baby powdery yet spicy scent...difficult to describe as I can't think of anything that's similar. For all you scent seekers....she's a must.

Wow, now that I have some perspective- your pictures are incredible! Forget the plants, I want a telephoto lense, LOL!

Ahhh shucks....thank you...that Bella bloom is one of my favorite shots!!! I still swear by my Canon Powershot - mine is the S3...they're probably up to S6 or 7 at this point. The super macro on it is AMAZING...combine that w/it's image stabilizer and whaa laaa. This camera also has an attachment available (they have after market ones as well) so that you can add filters etc. I don't think I used the macro filter on either of these 2 though - just used the cameras super macro feature...might try that filter though since both have their clusters forming.

Thank you so much. I had a wonderful day! I got my first Tab. flower and one of my young hens laid her first egg, too- total surprise (whereas the plant was sort of chosen for a "timed" opening.)

Here's another shot of the gingerbread house.... note the detailed 'hardscaping.' (LOL)

Speaking of hardscaping... Last year we used about 10 packs of Hubba Bubba bubble gum for the patio. I wish it came in gray... I would love to do a cobblestone patio this year lol! DH just shakes his head!

Chantell, your Bella bloom is unreal looking... It almost looks like the little plastic hair clips that kids wear these days. Wonderful shot!

The "finished product" LOL - it was the best we could do given the "help" we had... ^_^

Awwwe. That is so nice! The nativity figurines fit perfectly. So, how much icing got scarfed? :-)

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)
