I have looked through the plant files, several posts, and other websites....but, I still can't name the brug that I have. This is my first year growing brugs (this one was $1 at a garage sale and I had no idea that it was even a brug). Thank you for everyone's info on the forum, or my little green plant would never have lived long enough to show its beauty! Any help info is greatly appreciated!
The bloom is at least 3 days old, so the petals have a few "age spots"....hmmmm.....that's just like me...the older I get the more age spots....hahahaha
please help id I really did try to find the answer first
You have a very Beautiful Brug there.. BUT there is no way to ID it.. If it is sold to you without a name it will forever be a NOID (no ID).. Some of the prettiest Brugs I grow are NOID's becoz my Grands ..in an effort to help clean up pulled name tags out of the ground...OH WELL!! LOL
Just enjoy!!!
Kylie
Whatever it's name, it's a real beauty.
Kylie's correct in both counts. You DO have a beautiful Brug and it will have to remain a NOID.
Kylie's brought up a point to remember if you dive into Brugs and start acquiring named Brugs. Keep Brugs and name tags together and in legible condition. Once they lose that tag and you have no other means of a positive ID, such as placement charts, maps, names written on trunks, etc. those Brugs become NOIDs. I had a table full of named Brug cuttings with tags in my greenhouse this past spring. One very warm day I cranked up one side to get some ventilation going and the handle on the winch knocked the table over. I was able to save the cuttings by repotting them, but the tags when flying. In an instant I had a bunch of NOIDs on my hands. There's a reason for this draconian recommendation: There are so many look alike Brugs that using flowers only to ID a plant is not enough and to assign names to plants with lost tags on the off chance that that is what it was just adds to the confusion.
My recommendation would also be: Enjoy!! They are a joy to look at with or without names.
Wonderful! Thank you so much. My knowledge of brugs is minimal, at best. I mistakenly though that since there were so many references to named brugs, it was important that my brug had a name. I'll just call it beautiful. Thank you for the information!!
:-) I do enjoy my surprise plant and can't wait to watch it grow even more! Even the back side of the flower is beautiful!
Sooo pretty and how do ya'll luck out down there finding these types of pretties at yard sales. Here? You "may" come across a jade, spider plant...but that's about it...so sad.
Congratulations on your find... you know this will not be your only brug for long! They are addictive. Ask any of us how we know.
It certainly is a gorgeous bloom!
