Disco cactus epi????

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

To day when I was up in Ga I stopped at a ace hardware, found a very nice dark salmon Holiday cactus. But as I was leaving the green house I found a epi. It was different from my others .It was smaller leave/stems and other small leave/stems came out of the older ones. It was labeled a disco cactus but when I look that up I only find desert type cactus.

And yes I bought one. LOL

here is the first of the pictures

Hmm, interesting find wren. Can't wait to see it bloom.

Me too!!! I did find a couple pictures of them one was white and one was red-description says they bloom for a couple of days. So far no description of plant needs. I think I may have another one-the one I rescued from a local nursery may be the red one.(????) will just have to wait and see.

The Ace Hardware here don't ever have any nice plants much less a Epip. May I ask what town you were in?
Your plants look health & happy. Do post when they bloom.

I found that one at the Ace on St Simon's Island, Ga
The other one I found at a Ace here in Jacksonville, Florida

Wren107, I would also be interested to know if you find what your plant is. I have several similar in my collection and being a novice, have no clue as to their ID. I have seen similar in the Rhipsalis and Disocactus info. I will wait to see your flowers. Hopefully mine will flower next year.

Here is the closes that I have gotten so far. The rescued one does have some red on the leaves but the new one does not.

Wren, I think what you have is probably a Disocactus, rather than Disco. That's a nice looking plant you found ... and at Ace Hardware no less?! Wow, I think I need to check my Ace to see if they are carrying plants now!

The foliage reminds me of my Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa which turns dark red in the sun: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/141226/ I got my little plant as a cutting in my very first trade here on DG. It hasn't bloomed for me yet but I don't think the blooms on this plant are real showy like on Epiphyllum's.

It was a very up scale ACE Hardware!!!LOL More plants than I have ever seen at the ACE's here in Florida. I think the one I get in the Florida ACE might be the Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa. The new one has much smaller growth and is lower growing and no red on any leaves. It was the best looking of the group and it did not have a tag so I could be wrong about the spelling.

Oh I also ended up with four new Holiday cactus. I still need to find a white-white one, the white I have has a pink pistil(?) Someone stop me. Lets see add 6 more feet onto the green house--make the benches 3 shelf high-add hanging rods from the roof- oh I will have a lot more room--more epis more-more---more----more!!!!!!

LOL, Sandy! You are an Epi Nut ... that's for sure! How many do you have now? Just think how many you will have by this time next year! Yep, I think you will need a green house the size of your house. But, oh how beautiful that would be, I can just picture all those beauties hanging and sitting on shelves and blooming!

My Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa had solid green foliage until I moved it to full sun ... then it turned real red.

I believe the count in up to 202 or maybe that is 203 I lost count. I have close to 30 Holiday cactus. 3 desert cactus and one 2 pots of rhipsalis(?)

My new one does not look the same as the pictures of the Pseudorhipsalis ramulosa the leaves are smaller and all most all are laying down and it was in the sun.

The most traveling I'm doing these days is ebay LOL!! I will be going down to S. Fl in the spring for a few trips @ March. I doubt they will have any epi nurseries down there though but there's lots of other tropicals :)
I don't know why FL doesn't have many epi nurseries like Calif. does etc. If they like humidity they should do good here.....

This might be one.
