LOL!!! Where does it go when it retrieves it! It's not a very big bee, Juuli has small flowers.

I don't understand as its head is so small in comparison with the tongue!! It wouldn't fit in there! Perhaps its a system where the tongue puffs up when pulled out and then gets back deflated when pulled back in??? Something like these silly things, (don't know how they're called) they use on parties, lol!

They do have guides at the sides of the tongue, I have pics of other bumblebees showing them askew as they clean, at first I thought they had two tongues, lol! I also wondered if the tongue rolls up, as you say one of those party whistle blowers! Or it may come from deep inside, I haven't a clue! That one looks to have pushed out the very base of it's 'tongue'!
