Very bad shot... this group wouldn't come closer and right after I took this they all flew off.

Photos 1 and 2 are mallards - note the green heads on the males, white neck rings, and curly "butt feathers" (sorry!) on the males, and the similar jizz (size, body shape, posture - though lacking the brilliant colours) of the females.

Photo 3 shows a male hooded merganser with a female hooded in the lower right. The bird at the upper right appears to be a female merganser, possibly a common merganser from what appears to be a dark head (but given the quality of the photo, I hesitate to make too "stringy" of an ID! Hope these pix and IDs aren't going in to American Birds or anything, LOL!) The bird on the far left may be another female merganser (common)... bill shape is not definitive but... it may have simply turned its head a little away from the camera.

Thanks...nope they will probably be deleted!!

Ditto to Mallards on ##1, 2.

Pic 3, all four are Hooded Mergs; a drake and 3 females / immatures. Any Common Mergs would show up conspicuously on size as they're conspicuously larger.
