It's an Epiphyllum of some kind...my guess would be a night blooming Cereus(sp)

I agree it is E. Oxypetalum known also as Night Blooming Cereus and Queen of the Night. Here is mine last year. How big is your MIL's plant and has it ever flowered?
The flowers only open at night and just last the one night so you have to sty up all night to see it bloom!

we've got one, not a night blooming cereus because I think they are white-ish, but a type of epipyhllum. It almost split it's own leaf it's so heavy so I've got it proped up on the coke bottles, and again by the buds it's resting on the chair back. These should bloom in the next week or 2. We had it outside all summer and brought it in about a month or less ago.

Threegardeners, Carol and Linda
THANK YOU.
It is bigger than Carol's but smaller than the tree and Linda's looks thicker but it sure looks like the same type of plant.
It hasn't flowered yet but she was given it by one of her son's and he says his blooms. He was calling it Queen of the Nile? I knew it wasn't that so now I know why he had the confusion!
I will fill her in and give her the tips off the info site.
Thanks again
