I am fairly new to streps, but finding it hard to locate sellers that have different varieties. My list is going to take awhile to complete, are streps really that rare or unusual, that would create such a void in the varieties offered? Time to start a strep factory....Hehehehehe......................................Steve
Isn't it frustrating?
Theres a few places to get streps.
Ebay, sometimes they have a buy it now option and they arent too bad,Neils is pretty good,Kathy Spissman sells some good ones,
off ebay are
Lyons greenhouses
Robs violets
out of africa

JIM
I have ordered from Lyons, Brennans, Robs, Cedar creek, out of africa shuts down shipping in the winter, so I will order in the spring, But Jim even if you add all these vendors together, they still don't even begin to complete a major list of streps, Lyons has the most, but there are still a bunch out there that seem to be unavailable.
Do you grow from leaves
Yes I have started I have some in the mini greenhouse right now.
i think the best way to increase your streps are to swap leaves & pot them up. seems only growers have alot of streps, like jim.lol
mrsbonnie
ill be happy to swap with you, bonnie is another good swapper and theres a few ladys on here that are good too,but ill let them speak up as they may not like me outing them
lol
JIM
come join our swapping circle steve,Im way out numbered here by the ladies,(not that I mind it one bit.)
i am always game to swap leaves, as they can take the cooler temps we have right now.
mrsbonnie
I have a couple dozen cuttings started. Will be happy to send or swap leaves.....about April or a bit later. I will not know for the most part what I have until after they flower.
I just have to say that IMHO, Streps are *very* under-rated in the Houseplant market.
I think I've said a few times, that I have *NEVER*, lol, and I mean never, seen them for sale around here, and I used to do a lot of plant-shopping and saw a varied assortment of plants....never saw one!
I've stopped at greenhouses/nurseries within about a 100 mile radius...even in LaCrosse, which is quite a large city with many greenhouses/nurseries and floral shops. Not a one to be found!
I used to get them mixed up with Primrose (which don't interest me in the least) and wonder if a lot of the potential sellers (nurseries and greenhouse growers) do, too?
Honestly, the first time I'd seen or heard of a Strep was *right here* on this forum!
oh forgot to say they sell under the name of hrcka, this is taylors's greenhouse
mrsbonnie
I found my first strep in a greenhouse amongst decorative herbs and annuals. I bought it for my outdoor pot garden-it was Black Panther. When I got home and looked it up in my books(I was not online at that time--no puter yet), I found an article from Martha Stewart, all about streps with lots of catalog references, that I had saved and forgotten about. And thus, a new addiction was born! Hahaha! (pic from net)
Very Cool.I dont have jeanette, let me know how she looks when she blooms
she looks very pink
I really like the others you got
is hrcka the ebay name?
do they have a website?
i think it is the ebay name, other then that dont know about them
