questions about growing radishes, beets, and tunips

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I have planted radishes ( which are supposed to grow quickly) beets and turnips and swiss chard. Everything except the SC germinated. emerged and then came to a screeching halt. I had one good crop of beets a few years ago but I can't remember if I did anything different. What am doing wrong?

Sorry no one answered your question here. I suspect all came to a stop as when the soil temps drop and the days grow shorter, the growth slows down. Although the plants you listed are not freeze sensitive, they require a bit less of the %*!# cold! LOL

If I am not mistaken I had seen you post a similar request on Vegetable gardening? If not, you might try for a better answer over there. pod

Ya, that was me I forgot about this post I have had a bad cold and I'm not thinking clearly. My Caul, Cab, and Broc are doing well. Its just these root plants. I can't figure it out.

Sorry you are feeling poorly. It seems to be going around. I am suspicious of the soil temps affecting the root plants but glad to hear the rest is doing well.
