I dont now if this is true of other breeds -perhaps some of the more 'esoteric' ones -but if you have your shelties pedigree going back some generations you will often come across famous names such as Peter Pumpkin who were so prolific that they show up in the pedigrees of huge numbers of dogs!
It happens that I have the pedigrees of one of our latest rescues 'Oreo' ( dont know the registered name though) So I was looking at them the other day and discovered something very interesting at least to me!
On the dams side 4 generations back is my Baileys sire!
On the sires side 5 generations back are my Fancy's sire and dam! So the dog in the next generation ( 4 back) is actually a full sibling maybe even a litter mate of Fancy . No dates unfortunately.
Guess Oreo is a member of the family!
