Masquerade

Fort Lauderdale, FL(Zone 10b)

This is a first time bloomer for me and I love this little guy. Perfect little white blooms that I am told sometimes turn apricot in color as they mature. For all I care they can stay white they are so pretty. this is a Monika Gottschalk cross of Fandango x Rubirosa. I believe that this is pod sister to Dream Angel, DayDreams, and Facination. The seedling parent is Renee Olshesky. It was grown out here in the states. You can see I have extracted pollen already and tied off the stamen so there will be no contamination of the crosses.

Wouldn't removing the anthers accomplish the same thing? Am I missing something?

I love white Brugs. This one has cute curly tendrils. How little is little and what is his fragrance like?

The anthers contain the pollen that is removed and stored.
To pollinate a brug you brush the stamen with pollen from a different cultivar. I then close the bloom so that a bee carrying pollen from some other brug does not get into the bloom and screw up my cross. So closing the bloom restricts access from pollinating insects.
The anthers being removed have nothing to do with the crossing of the blossom. They are used to cross to other brugs.

I love the colour of this one, it is more of a blue white instead of the yellow white.. the little tendrils are very captivating to look at, and the double skirt makes this one " I must have!" (this one)
Thanks for sharing this post on your Masquerade,

I love the way the tendrils curl up into pigtail curls as the bloom matures...Pink Charm does this too

'Masquerade' is sister to 'Magnifiqué', also which blooms similarly in triples and quads.
I have been trying to get 'Masquerade' and 'Magnifiqué' to bloom same time so I can compareone on one. And also 'Dream Angel' and 'Daydreams"
'Edna' is also a sister, also.
This was a great cross Monika make to result in many beautiful daughters.

I didn't know that Magnifique was part of the Fandango x Rubirosa clan. I did know about Edna but I'd forgotten. I had Edna (in fact I bought it from you Alice) but I lost it one summer when I was away...never did get to see her bloom....:{
