I live near Raleigh (Granville County) and have been here many years. All the books say great horned owls are all over NC. Has anyone around here ever actually seen one or even reliably heard one? We have lots of barred owls and I am familiar with them. But I would love to see or hear a great horned. Any luck by anyone else?
Great horned owls in North Carolina - have you seen them?
I have heard owls many times here and down the shore but no luck in ever seeing one except in captivity.
