Dinner Parties with a theme

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

A few of my neighbors & I got together and started a dinner party group. We plan to have a dinner every 3 months, taking turns at each other's homes. The host picks the food theme and prepares the main dish. Last night was our 1st & the Theme was GREEK. It was fun to try some things for the 1st time.

One lady made eggplant dip, skordalia - garlic dip & tzatziki dip. She also had homemade pita and biscuits.
I made a Greek salad and dessert; Baklava (1 lbs of butter, 1 lbs of philo (filo) pastry, 1 lbs of walnuts, 1 lbs of almonds. All layered, baked and then a super sweet syrup made with mostly honey to soak in. 1st time I have ever heard of it and it was fun to make.

Our main course was moussaka (beef) and my friend also made a Greek bread.

We had a great time. Took hours to eat and everyone went home with some very different left-overs.

Not sure what my baklava was supposed to look like, but here's a pic.

Our next dinner is in February with a Swiss or French theme.
