How are all y'all plants doing during this cold spell?
So far so good down here. 1-2 more nights of deep cold and I can uncover my epi's. I peeked under the plastic today and every one looks happy. In the garden only a couple of plants have freeze burns on there leave.

It is getting really cold here and the plants are all in for the winter with lights. I sure hope we do not have any of those police helicopters fly by or I will be busted for sure! LOL
I do not think you will have any problem unless you start smoking your epi's !!!!!!
You'd have to use newspaper to roll them.
Mine are ok. They are in the aviary with the heater on for the birds so they don't mind the cold at all. The christmas cacti are blooming on the porch and I keep telling myself to get up and take pics, but I was passed a nasty bug from my son and I just don't feel much like moving around. I hope I catch some before they are finished.

I unwrapped my epi's and there is no damage. I think the loose layers keep most of the moister off the plants. Praying no more freezes until after I finish the green house next month.
Every nook and cranny is stuffed with plants and or cuttings.. the rest are in the garage...LOL I hope the Holiday company doesn't mind turning sideways to scooch by...
Yup the bathtub is full also.. So have yourself a nice long shower... use the one in back it is 6'x6'... I bought extra body wash... ;O)
I will be able to move everything in the garage out for a couple of days.. long enough to clean up and back in they go!! WOOHOO!!

I brought all my epis inside for the past couple days~ I have 40 now but only half are named hybrids lol. Today I kicked them all back outside except the seedlings and cuttings (not epies) I have on a 4 tier plant shelf under lights. I get sick of them all inside.
I also found a orangy/peach xmas cactus at Food Lion of all places lol! I've been looking all over for one and I happened to be at the grocery store in the produce isle, I looked up and there it was LOL! It hopped right in my basket...I told it Nooo but it didn't listen..... *shrug* :)

They never listen. Infact they have very loud voices I could hear them calling to me all the way from the nurseries.............calling.........calling......c..a..l...l..i...n...g... Excuse me I have to go look at some epis!!!!!!!!
I spent three long hrs. at the grocery and not a Dang thing screamed out or jumped in the basket....sigh...

I feel better to know that I am not alone! Went to Wal-Mart to get dog and cat food and black markers to write down plant names on pots. What should happen?? Of course I had to swing by the plant section which is adjacent to the pet aisle. They had budded christmas cactus for $3.50. Somehow three of the little darlings jumped in my cart when I was not looking. Got them home and determined that there were three plants to a pot and were looking crowded so now I have nine of them potted up in the plant room. Should be really pretty in a week or two when they start blooming.
Tetleytuna, I like that they looked crowded. LOL it sounds like a great excuse to get more plants out of them to me..... I have been known to do that myself. I am planning to bring my cacti in this week. I am hoping I still catch all the blooms......
I heard that HD has Christmas cactus in..... I think I hear them calling...... Yeppy thats what I hear.

Depends are you hearing the epi's calling or are you hearing people. If it is epi's it's ok but if you are hearing people you are nuts.......or maybe I have that back wards.

Yep I saw some at HD by Target in O.P yesterday. I only saw Red. Magenta, and white though so they weren't calling too loudly. I bought some more orchid mix, and dh got a new saw blade so he can cut some oak for me to mount another staghorn onto.
I will try to get some pics up tonight of the red and orangy/peach one. Those are the only 2 blooming so far. One of my yellows dropped a bunch of buds when I brought it in and it must not of liked it....the brat!

I just get home and I found two stowaways, some how two holiday catus get into my car. One is a lavender and the other is a soft red more of a dark pink, sense both where new colors i told them they could stay,

I've gotta get my camera out, someone sent me pieces of christmas cacti back in september or early october and 1 has one bud it is fuschia on the outside and white on the inside. Just beautiul. I will try to post pics tomorrow.

Trouble 2x,
Here is the pic of the staghorn, it is just a baby. I just got this one mounted today. It will have to sit this way until it grows into the wood, then I can hang it up. I love the huge ones some people have-looks like they are swallowing up a tree lol.
I took some pics for a tutorial as I did this, if anyone wants to see them I can post them.
Its gonna be cold again 34 and tomorrow 31 yikes! I guess I will just put everything inside again. I finally just got it all out yesterday lol.
Very nice angle. You are beginning to get a good collection. I may have that color, at least I hope so.

I am hoping that it will not get that cold over here but we all the water so it is usually 5-7 degrees warmer but tomorrow they are back under cover.

I forgot and left a potted medinilla, plumeria, and some small potted brugs out there last night. It definitely frosted here. The grass is all white. Hope they are still alive lol.
It's 44 degrees here this morning. I went out to cover my epis back up and someone-I think it was that furry four legged demon child of mine- tore hole in the heavier plastic sheets. So I had to use the lighter plastic.
Lennette I did the same.. Mine was frozen..:O( it looks like I my be able to save it from the roots.. DUH!!!

The ones I left out are okay except for a few small brugs got burnt on the top. The bottom looks okay though. I am suprised the medinilla is just fine. Its still blooming too ~crazy thing !! 2 that I had in the ground, Adeline (brug) is 8 ft tall and the top got burnt even though it was covered up, same for Naughty Nick 10 ft. tall (brug). I made sure everything was covered good tonight or in the house or garage. Wish it would stay warm..this is getting old lol.
