Wow I am repotting today and also adding wicks to all if not most of my plants... This tuber made the pot go oval instead of round. Do I just repot this baby into a bigger pot? Thanks for any help.
Hugs,
Susan
Sinn Tuber
Personally, I would plant that big fat tuber in a pot to fit. Not deeper necessarily but a bit wider. Maybe mrsbonnie could weigh in here as she grows lots of sinningias. My question would be whether that tuber could be divided in some way?
That is what I was wondering also Goldleaf... She is a beauty don't you think? I did not know they grew this big...it was not visible until I went to wick it and said I think you need a bigger pot...LOL
Susan
Yes, I love it, Susan! What is the variety name? I think you are going to like wicking your plants.
yes you can divide the tuber in 2, as it looks like there are 2 of them.pot them up in a pot big enough for them, not to deep, let the top show a bit.pot them seperately, the one with out growth might not make a plant, time will tell.
mrsbonnie
Thank you Bonnie, It really looks like 4 to me... Can I just repot it as is?
Susan
Hi Susan;
If it looks like 4 to you, it probably is,i am only looking at the picture, you do not have to seperate them if you don't want to, it will probbaly grow several crowns & thats always pretty to.
mrsbonnie
Thanks Bonnie, I may just plant it into a bigger pot... I am not sure yet... I just stopped re-potting and wicking most of the rest of my plants... I also potted up new babies from my streps... I don't know where I am going to put them after I get them all done... I went to Sam's club to buy another shelf but they only had one that is a single wide instead of double like the others I have... I checked 4 Sam's clubs on line... I really don't want the single one so if someone knows where I can get a double one please let me know...
Hugs,
Susan
what do you mean, single wide? my stands are 18 wide x 4 ft. i bought mine at menards,i think home depot has the same ones.
bonnie
Bonnie, I will take a picture later but mine are bigger then 4' tall and two trays sit back to back so I get 4 to a shelf... Also two sets of lights per shelf... I did not look at home depot so I am going to look on line first .. Target has them on line but I would have to pay shipping .... and wait 2-6 weeks for it...
Susan
Bonnie,
Just went and measured mine and they are 60x24x72 on wheels... I don't want if they don't have wheels... Our Sam's use to carry them and now they don't... I can get from the company but they are 40.00 more plus shipping... Sam's do have the 18" wide ones but that is not going to be an option here as I really like all the room I get on the bigger ones... Ok going shopping in Kim's state now and maybe she can get and bring down with her... Back later
Hugs,
Susan
Hi Susan;
I bought mine from menards & they did not have wheels , so i bought wheels & put them on myself, quite easy. but if you ca get them in a larger size with wheels, i don't blame you. i would too.
bonnie
Thanks Bonnie,
So far I have been re-potting Av's and baby streps and I have just enough room on my shelves but I would rather not have some plants with others... Just my crazy way of things...LOL I am hoping to hold off until after the holidays.. Maybe Sam's will get them back in..
Hugs,
Susan
Susan, One of my shelf units is exactly like yours and I got it at Lowe's.
I keep mine seperated too susan, well I try,and its a good idea to keep older plants from newer ones, thats when seperate shelves come in handy
Now that's one big tuber! Did you repot it like it was Susan?
I am going to Lowes then as when I went online they did not show it... I can't see paying the same price for the smaller one as the bigger one... I am glad to hear I am not the only one who likes my plants seperate...LOL Jan when I went to handle the tuber again it broke in three the baby on the top broke off but the other two just came apart... I don't know if it will regrow but hey it still was cool...
Hugs,
susan
Jim, I sent you one that big! Did you plant it or save it? Sinningia Ibiti..........something..........or maybe Texas Zebra?
