JohnDewey my little 6 mos old tabby has a fractured pelvis. I was outside with him day before yesterday and all I saw him do was race up a tree and then he began to howl in pain. Got him down and to the vet we went. She said that he would need about 6 weeks of cage rest. OK, I can do that.
The problem is that he won't move his bowels because of the pain. He is on a pain patch for 5 days which we are hoping will help him. He is also on amoxi drops which is sometimes helpful and in the meantime, I am to give him about a tablespoon of pumpkin in hopes that the fiber will help him move things along. He loves the pumpkin, BTW.
My question has to do with his diet. He is on a raw diet and as a rule cats don't poo as often when fed raw. Is there something in particular that is raw that I can feed him that might help in addition to the pumpkin or in lieu of the pumpkin?
He is such a little trooper; however, he has taken very quickly to be catered to while in his hospital crate, with all its pillows and my very very old LL Bean flannel robe.
Thanks in advance for any input.
