Miss Emily Mackenzie putting on a show
Beautiful. Ah to live in a place where the temops stay warm enough year round to see just beauty on a frosty cold morn.
It's cold here too this morning. I woke up to 49 degrees...brrrrrrr!
trade ya. It 20F here and a little frosty. Hoping my babie sin gh made it through ok last night. Got the tiny tots inside.
What ya gonan cross her with? Any ideas?
I stopped trying to cross Emily Mackenzie a long time ago. I did get pods on her once with Double Peach but she is way too fussy for my taste. I just enjoy her now. I'll collect some pollen and maybe out cross her to something else but as far as trying to pollinate her.....it's not worth my time
Congrats to such a beautiful flush of MEM, Gary! Wow, she's gorgeous!!! Hi Star.
thanks Lily.....you should get a whiff of her out there tonight!!
I had a total but 3 blooms on MEM in my kitchen for several days....that enough to perfume not only the kitchen but the whole entire living area. I can imagine having a flush like yours!!! Fabulous!!!
I counted 66 blooms so far......

Nicely done! I can dream, I'll sink my MEM pot and all into the garden next spring. In pot culture, she perform but marginally.
Help! I have managed to kill the piece of stem of MEM that I received recently----evidently from too much water. Would someone south of Zone 7b who still has some stems please sell me a piece? I think that I have learned my lesson---------and, I have an glassed-in porch where I could root it and have it ready to go next spring. Just let me know how much I owe, and I will send it by return mail.
Also, I have a seed pod forming on a NOID white brug in a pot on my porch. It has opened 4 beautiful blooms but lost all its leaves----but, the pod remains. Will it stay on and produce seeds?

Shirleyd,
If the pod is to grow and mature, it must have nurishment, i.e. the plant has got to continue to grow so it can provide that nurishment. Do you have a warm sunny place to put the plant?
Yes, there is plenty of light on the porch-----but, to save fuel I keep the temperature in the 50's. Is that warm enough for the pod to grow?

Miss Emily Mackenzia is beautiful and a great bloomer. That's a beautiful flush of blooms, Gary.
Gary, do you have any idea why MEM doesn't produce seedpods?
Shirleyd, temperatures in my greenhouse fluxuate between 45ºF and 75º - 80ºF. Pods will grow in the greenhouse, but very slowly.
No. I have heard several theories and speculations on the reason but nothing conclusive.
Bettydee-----thank you so much for your response about the seed pod.
