I was watering some plants after work tonight, before going to bed, when I noticed the label on a noid I bought this summer at the grocery store for $.99. The label said--"Premier Collectors Variety--for identification go to www.optimara.com."This might shed some light on why a lot of hobbyists become confused about what is or isn't a noid.
The NoID Issue
Well, I do think the Optimara site could include more information - such as past offerings. The site only lists current plants.
The plant I had gotten from Home Depot earlier this year just started blooming, and I used the Optimara site to ID it . . . it looks like Millennia. However, if you have it, check First Class . . . the description there includes leaf information . . . which mine does not fit. I was in a Lowe's the other day, looking for supplies for soil-less mix . . . did you know "they" are putting fertilizer in perlite now?!? . . . anyway. I looked at the AV's, and there it was . . . as soon as I saw it, I knew . . . was Optimara Millennia. The description fit FC to a "t". Dark leaves, red back, etc.
So, mine is back to a noid.
So...if you had not gone to Lowe's that day, you would still be calling your noid Millenia? I do not have FC2-will get it sometime soon...watching my $$. I wish they would stop putting fertilizer in everything! Last time I was in HD, I could not finf AV potting soil w/o fertilizer. Phooey!
I would still be saying . . . I wish I knew for sure if it was Millennia.
I had been contemplating writing a letter to Optimara/Holtkamp with a picture of it, to see if they would know which it was, but I think I'll just keep calling it the "Home Depot Rescue".
How about Millennia Wannabe?
Oh, please name it Millenia Wannabe............that is great!
