Our Barnevelder Roo Just Crowed!
He is gorgeous!!! I just love to hear them crow. Even when they sound like broken car horns. LOL
I wonder if my nieghbors feel the same? Just kidding...they do.
How many chickens do you have? All for eggs or broilers too?
What a handsome guy. I just love to hear them crow. I can't wait til I live somewhere I can have roosters.
I swear, I don't know where they get their silly regulations, though. Talula is louder than most roosters in the morning when she wants out of her hen house. ha!
I'm lucky, most of my neighbors don't mind. *knocking on wood**
I have 3 silkies, 2 Delaware pullets.. that are not delawares and one is a roo. (someone gave em to me) 2 Ameracauna Pullets (I hope) 4 RIRs and 2 Millie Fleurs, and these 3 Barnevelder Roos. Catscan is hatching for me.. so there are several eggs in the bator. All for eating eggs and someday hatching eggs.
L_L I should have named him Barry cause he has such a deep bass voice.. Yeah.. tell me about it! I'm allowed 30 hens and one roo.. how stupid is that????? I'm on the border to the next town.. that's how far out I am..
That's my boy!:0)
Wow, he's beautiful! What a nice looking roo. Congrats on him "growing up"!
Well, I guess I should have told the whole story.. The Marans Roo we had was the "top dog" and constantly beat up on these 3. When the Marans roo was removed... these guys poured on the weight and really started to come on. Having him crow for the first time was indication of how well he is doing now. I think he is just toooo fine of a specimen to be second in command. His double lacing is just starting to show up, and I just really like the way he looks.
He is quiet, confident, and doesn't sweat the small stuff. He lets everyone be who they are.. and just as regal as ever, keeps track of what's what. I really like him. So far, he is the perfect "group" roo for me.
She is a beauty!
WOW! Beauregaurd is gonna be thrilled.. so am I!!!!
Wow.. You know how crazy I am for gold laced.. Look at that lacing! Yeowza..
They are gonna be a great couple! I need to get another pic of Beau.. His lacing is showing up more and more.. I can barely wait to see him full blown..
Wow, now that is a honey of a hen! She's terrific! Those kids are going to be on the cover pages of all the big poultry magazines. Eggquire, Rolling Egg, Martha Steggwart Living....
I went out with the "girls" today.. Beau had flown the coop and was outside patrolling.. It is fun to watch him.. he keeps track of everyone! Doesn't bother them.. just knows where everyone is at all times.
For disposition.. I love this roo. I've only had him a short time, he doesn't care to be picked up, but he is a great roo... Very tolerant, very confident.
I can't wait to get her!!! Wow..
WOW! What an extremely handsome couple. Do these arranged marriages really work for chickens?? LOL!
Oh no! Bite your tongue Teresa! It HAS to work!
If either one has petty lil issues, they are just gonna have to work them out. I'm up for sending them to marriage counseling if I have to. LOL
LOL!!!!
Hi Teresa! Wanna buy a chicken? LOL
LOL! I kind of do!
Okay, ZZ. It is time for a Chicken Run to Victoria. We'll outfit you with a big coat with interior pockets--the Dutch Bantam, Cuckoo Marans and Giant Blue Cochins are ready to go. Have you decided about the Turkens yet?
When you get to the Border act very, very calm and keep the radio turned way up. If they ask any questions just answer them in Texan....
No no no, ZZ, you NEED to take a Canadian with you. Take me. I am a passport carrying Canuck, and I can help you through the border. Why, all it takes is a good clean set of footie pajamas and a little "Santa Baby" song for the customs officer, and we are in like Flint. I can even sing the national anthem in a Marilyn Munroe sort of voice, and wink at the customs agent in a scandalous manner. They will never notice the chickens in the car. I'll just tell them you're a friend from Iowa who grew up on the farm. They won't ask you any questions. Wear a good hat.
Road Trip!
If I can get across the Canadian border with 3 siamese cats and my DM you two should be able to.LOL (My DM had to have more paper work that the cats did)
