New group for Sizzle fans!

Cave Creek, AZ

To all you folks who are interested, to what ever degree, in Sizzles I have created a list and page for the sharing of information & “whatever” about our favorite little ‘muppet’ birds. I have posted an introductory letter and am attempting (with mixed luck so far) to set up a file with pictures of my birds. Please feel free to do the same. It is my hope to promote interest and share information, experiences & birds “if ya got um” with other enthusiasts. I look forward to meeting you all!

There is also a file section to place any information you want to share. I for one can use all the help/understanding about genetics I can get. To that end I will put two things I've save from other lists in the files . One is about the genetics on frizzling and the other is about the genetics for combs. Hope they are helpful to someone else also!

Here's an interesting item on eggbid!

Frizzles crossed to Millies, Silkies and Sultans. Might make some good Sizzles, right?

I am so tempted!

I didn't have a great experience with that seller. :( I wouldn't buy from her again.

Welcome evryone;

For anyone interested in starting their own line of Sizzles, this is a pic of my foundation Frizzle Cochin Roo. He was from a show breeder back east. I have decided not to use him any more and would like to offer him to anyone interested in breeding for Sizzles. He will cost you shipping and the chance at a one if your nice Sizzle birds somewhere down the road. His name is Fancy Pants Pete and he's a real sweet roo.
Let me know .

First let me say, it's a free country folks & I'm not the chicken police so... you can breed any darn thing you want to breed! That said, let me clarify, if you want to frizzle any of those breeds, I think they are accepted as a variety for that breed for show as long as they match the breed standard. I haven't started showing yet so please, double check that.

The consensus, at this point, for a standard for Sizzles is leaning towards the basic Silkie standard with a hard curled feather. I've put up questions about it on the Sizzle list and all input is welcome, encouraged even! I'm not sure if it matters how you get to that standard, just that you achieve it. Like I said, I'm new at this too. Anyone else with experience developing a new breed please feel free to chime in! Seriously folks, it's "our" breed, we have to make the decisions on what or even if it's going to be a breed...or just backyard fun. It's all up to us!

I'm willing to give as much time as I can to organizing the list and developing the standard. As we get known around the country I hope to eventually put together a team to develop the standard and make decisions on getting recognized as a breed or a variety. There is a lot to learn when your starting from scratch ( unintended chicken joke!) Everyone interested in Sizzles is encouraged to join the list and help with the development & decisions. I look forward to hearing your information, opinions & stories there as well as seeing pic of what your breeding!

Look forward to hearing from you!
Sarah
