SOOOOOoooooOOOooooOOOOOOOoooooooOOOOO cute!

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Can anyone tell me if they are roos or pullets? I have no clue with silkies.. I can't hardly name them yet.. except for the one with the huge lungs.. LOL

Kent, WA

awwwww. They are precious!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

What kind of chicks are they? They are so cute. The quiet one looks silver color. They have feather legs as well. I love the babies! Jean

Hello Sewincircle, welcome!

They are silkies. I love them so much.. I've been wanting silkies forever. :) Bugle is a loud one.. The lil quiet one will come sit on my hand.. I love that.

Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

I just got some silkies, too. They are precious! I love the littlest one. I've heard you almost have to wait for the crow/egg to sex them. Maybe someone with more expertise will chime in?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Joyce, you have achieved babydom. So cute. Did you hatch them?

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Silkies! They are so cute. They get even cuter. I looked at some pictures of adult ones! My daughter Dominique wanted a silkie or two. I told her we have to wait. We are having integration issues as it is. Maybe next spring. They are beautiful though! Is the smallest one black? I know nothing about sexing them. Only what I have read in books, and it was not a lot of help when I had to do my own. LOL All my boys had girl names!

Thank you for the welcome!!!!

Newton, AL

cute babies and welcom sewincircle

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

They're adorable, Mother Bird ZZ! Can't help you with the sexing - I think silkies are just about the hardest ones to sex.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Have you tried the leg kick thing or the thumb on abdomen thing? Check out the other threads probably 2-3 pages back in the forum... I'll tell you the thumb on abdomen thing did NOT work for me. My two baby silkie/cochin crosses both felt identical, but one most definitely started cockle-doodle-doo'ing and the other was probably a pullet. :'-(

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Thank you Shell. I really don't care what sex they are.. they are just fluff balls that are so fun to have!
Hi KELL!!! No, I didn't hatch them.. Catscan did. I can't take the credit. She gave them to me. I'm very thankful. I'm not hatching anymore.. I'm no good at it and it's too sad to fail, not to mention expensive.
Thank you Claire. I love them so much.

Okay.. Where is Silkiechick?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I will try it.. I flip them, but haven't done the thumb thing... I tried to figure that one out and had a hard time. I never felt any difference.. I think I need a LOT more experience for that method.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

I just flipped them and just as I thought.. Bugle is a Roo. The other two flip as pullets. I will name the other two accordingly.. (Helps me to remember)

The one thing I notice is... Bugle has real big puffs on his hocks..
So the little one I will name Hetty
The quiet one is Sterling

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Can you do it naturally with these girl babies when they grow up and Bugle starts to bugle for real?

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Kell.. Yeah.. they are great for that!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What fun that will be!

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Thank you for the welcome InnBetween. I have a sister in Bessemer, AL. Its great being a part of this group. Great peeps! LOL I have read so many stories. My daughter and I watched all the incubator videos and read the stories of the hatch in Jan. What fun. We particularly loved the videos of BOB the baby duck. He was so fast!!!!
I have tried to hatch but lost all before. It is heartbreaking. We had two successful hatches with the summer camp kids though. I am so glad they went well. Explaining to the parents why their children where traumatized would not be fun. I know its a part of life though. Well, have a good night. Jean

I will just say that with all my technical knowledge about feathery friends and with deep deliberation: awwwwwwwwwwww. You can quote me on that.

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)
