I believe it's a female house finch...? Hmm, it seems to have a very short bill and a beady eye... it may be the way it's holding its head in the picture, at an angle to the camera? Oh well, the experts will come along soon!

Could be 'cause they are/are big visitors to my backyard but that long tale feather is what throws me off.
