Greetings, all ~
Wow, sounds like everyone's been busy. I agree with you, KJo, I don't know how MaryE does all those rides! Good luck, MaryE!
We have several small 3-20 acre tracts in town that are still farmed. Over the years, their numbers have been decreasing. This year they were planted in hay, so I was expecting to see beans next year, or tomatoes - but yesterday afternoon I drove by the one nearest our house and saw a For Sale sign. I guess next year they'll be growing houses there. It's sad. It's one of the smaller lots, but land prices are so high here, I don't see how they've held out so long as it is. The builders put 10 houses on an acre and sell them for $375,000 + each. They are litterally paying 1/2 million dollars an acre to buy the land. This is probably a 5 acre tract that is being sold. Perhaps that will give the farmers enough $$ to continue farming the rest of the fields for a while longer - and make a trip to the JD Dealer, too. I hope so. That would be the only good thing to come of it, in my opinion.
Catherine, how's the move going? You all inspire me to keep the faith and pay the bills so that some day, some day, maybe I'll get to make such posts as Catherine ;-)
Many blessings to you all!
