Are hydrangea, confederate roses and impatiens deer resistant?

Here is a good list of deer resistant plants, I hope it helps.

Josephine.
well thanks Josephine. I will go to the link now.
Here's another list:

The deer ate the new growth on my peegee hydrangea. Deer are also notorious for eating rose buds, although I have had moderate success obtaining blooms with a polyantha rose.
Thanks rox. I will check out the link for sure. I have roses right in front of the house. The deer don't come that close. At least I've seen no evidence. I do have two bushes down by the street where they cross but they've never messed with them. Fortunate I guess. I'm going to try to plant the hydrangea close to the house and cross my fingers.
A little nasty spray on the bushes, especially for the first few weeks, can also help.

I've found that planting rosemary into the beds helps a lot. Deer don't like the smell or taste of rosemary. Maybe because they (the deer) taste so good with rosemary (just a culinary joke there). I live out in the middle of a big pasture with quite a bit of deer activity, but they walk by, sniff the beds, and keep on going.
Great idea Terri !!!!
rosemary it is then. I will plant it with my hydrangea. Thanks I also saw deer repellent spray in a Spray -n-Grow catalog I got. It wasn't that expensive. I may keep both on hand.
Both sounds like a good bet to me. You never know about deer!
Rox, I went to your link and was surprised at how many plants deer don't like. I also was surprised to find out that almost all my plants, save the hydrangea and I guess brugs, were on that list. So I guess that's why my landscape has been left alone. We do have French Mulberry bushes on the southside of the yard but they are there for them to eat in the fall. They love the berries.
I haven't grown any brugs, but I might. I love tropicals mixed with perennials.

I have a little bit of everything. Some that was already here when we bought the place three years ago and some I've planted. This is my first year with brugs. They have been in pots, but they all are getting planted in the ground come April.
My columbine is bloomimg like crazy in the Greehouse along with petunias, surfinias, begonias, calibrochoas, roses and geraniums. I have morning glories blooming in the house.
Have you a desert rose? I have seeds if you'd like to try that tropical. They are slow growing but when they grow up they are impressive.
I don't have a desert rose, but I better hold off. Right now I am overwintering a few hundred elephant ears.
I wish I was in Zone 8a; in reality I'm 2 full zones away but I push at least a zone with a few microclimates.
ROX
lol. That is alot of elephant ears. The offer stands as long as I have them. I have about 50 so I think I'll have them for awhile.
Sometimes I wish I was back in southwest Fl. I wouldn't fret near as much about cold weather. This yoyo stuff is driving me nuts.
LOL Rox ~ Wishing you were in 8a and I was in 10b... are we never happy. Man, they can keep this cold. Bring on summertime.
