Hawk in town

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Here is a Harrier Hawk that we have had in town for about three yrs. I don't see many pretty birds anymore and now he is after the cats. He is getting ready to get a cat in the yard. BEV

here he is again just before he flew down to get it. He missed because there was a Cedar tree right in front of the cat so he dive bombed and missed. BEV

A bunch here to Nanny. In fact found an unweened kitty up a tree so took her in and now she is my love. Her name is Powder. BEV

Awww...that is so sweet. I love kitties and wish I could have one again. But they trigger DH's asthma really bad, so no kitties here anymore.

Sharp-shinned Hawk.

It might mob the cat (much like a Mockingbird might mob an eagle), but it won't take the cat for prey - the cat is about 10 times the weight of the hawk

Hi dragonfly. your kitty looks like my Gracie but she is old and grumpy. But I love her anyway! ;))
