what to do with eclosed butterfly in the PM?

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I have a giant swallowtail that eclosed today. Unfortunately I just now got home and it is 66F and dropping. I cut a flower and brought it in but it isn't interested in eating. I tried to let it go outside but it stayed on my finger. Do I keep it until morning or try to let it go now?

You can keep it until morning. They usually aren't interested in eating right away so I wouldn't worry about that. I've held butterflies until the next morning and they're fine.

Ok that's good. It is raining now so I wouldn't want it to be out there anyway. Hopefully it will be done raining in the morning.

Thanks!
