AOL/AIM problem

A friend of mine refuses to get MSN messenger, she wants me to get AIM since I have more room on my 'puter. no problem.

BUT...every time I try to sign up for a screen name I get a certificate warning.
Secure Connection Failed
reg.my.screenname.aol.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

When I try to do the exception it tells me this is dangerous and I shouldn't do it...what is going on? Is it ok or not? sheesh, I just want to talk to my friend, not like I'm shopping or anything.
