In the 1 year I've been on the internet, I've not seen or thought of this question...til now. I am going to start watering with superthrive--1 drop per gallon. However, I also add detoxifying drops to the water to neutralize chloramine, chlorine, heavy metals, etc. Do these drops have any effect on the Superthrive?
Water Chemistry for Dummies ^_^
Someone else will have to answer, phoebe, as I don't use either.
I use a "pur" filter pitcher for my water-- it is s'posed to take all that stuff out without adding chemicals. This is necessary because our water comes mostly from a spring--but sometimes surface runoff mixes in with it. It also warms upt o room temp while "filtering. I do use superthrive--1 ml/gal---but figure my water is about a pure as I can get it.
I wouldnt use superthrive for your everyday watering, cant say for sure what it will do
but I do know that it can build up and hurt your plants,
JIM
Thanks Jim, I didn't know that, but it would stand to reason-- I actually vary what I use between dilute fertilizers and plain water--- they get superthrive about every 3 weeks and every 6 weeks they get distilled water.
I agree with Jim. I used to use Superthrive @ 1 drop per gallon years ago but no longer do.
"I used to use Superthrive @ 1 drop per gallon years ago but no longer do."
Why did you stop?
it causes tight centers or at least it did for me,
I was having vague symptoms and problems with my violets in the centers where the most tender new leaves are and on velvety type leaves vs. glossy, or on light colored leaves as these are the more delicate as far as chemicls, etc...nothing too major but I was blaming my water (thought I needed a reverse osmosis filter lol!), and then questioned my fertilizer strength, lights, you name it before I eliminated the Superthrive. Some of the babies would get orangy appearing crystals on the center leaves. I quit the Superthrive and problems solved. That was several years ago.
Thanks--maybe I try it on just a couple of plants--now I know what to watch for
