That would be great, I only have a young Franken Samantha at this time. There are tons on my must have list, these are addictive, I already have Daylily and iris and Japanese iris addictions, and Koi, but I needed an indoor garden hobby, the winters are long and crazy here. I have only been at this....ie Streps for about 5 months. I seem to having great luck with them and the 12 Av's I have.

I just noticed this thread.

Curious....do I assume correctly that 'Franken' is a hybridizer?

The title of the thread caught my attention - FrankenStreps....thought they might be monstrose/malformed plants or something! Makes sense, doesn't it! (Ü)

Yes Franken = Hybridizer

Nan: Check out some of these Franken beauties: http://www.streptocarpus-info.com/tablefranken.html

Oh how I wish I could grow Strep's!

Ooooh! Did you see Franken Velvet Lady? Is that a black flower? Love it...love lots of them--LOL

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

OK...hybridizerS - plural - Frank & Ken = Franken - Clever!

Lin...I'll bet that somewhere in your home is a cool/dry microclimate where you could grow a couple...you just haven't found it yet!

Velvet lady is a beauty....I like 'Vicki', too.

I wonder if they'll ever name one Franken 'Stein'? lol....

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

How about Frankenberries? LOLOL!

(Zone 1)

LOL, I think 'Franken Stein' would be a great name for one of the Franken Strep's!

Nan ... until you sent all this darned COLD weather our way I didn't think I could keep a strep alive. Today I think they would love it here! We are 20 degrees below normal temperatures! Wind Chill Advisories! WIND CHILL ... in Florida! We got down to 39 last night and it's supposed to be 35 or 36 tonight. Silver Springs and the Ocala area, about forty five minutes to an hour NW of us had lows @26! Someone needs to remind Mother Nature that this is FLORIDA, it's not supposed to get so cold in Florida in November! At least not this far south in Florida, LOL.

It has warmed up to the low 50's now, but the noon news said with the wind chill it feels between 28-30 degrees in some areas. Brrrrr! I don't think I'd like this for very long. I complain about the awful humidity during the summer but geesh I don't like cold!

Whew. Okay, I'll calm down now ... done ranting about cold weather, hee hee! At least we have beautiful sun shining! ^_^

I am grateful and blessed. I feel so sad for all the homeless in this country who don't have a warm bed during the cold of winter. Our newspaper this morning said all local shelters were packed last night. An article showed a photo of one man sleeping on the kitchen floor of one of the shelters with a towel rolled up for his pillow.

Isn't that the truth, Lin! Always remember that the Salvation Army is a place to volunteer and every time you see those people out ringing their bells, drop all you can in the bucket. It is a rock solid organization with very little overhead. It all goes to the homeless people.

(Zone 1)

Gail, the Salvation Army is one I ALWAYS give to wholeheartedly. I agree, one of the best organizations out there helping those in need!
