i only have one brug and this is it. lol i've heard that it's not the greatest cultivar but at least it's always pest free. it froze to the ground last spring so i wasn't sure if it would come back. this is the third flush of blooms this year so apparently it's happy.

What a great pic! I am just starting with brugs and was able to get a cutting of this so am really looking forward to next year when I should be seeing blooms too. :^)
thanks, tetley. this plant is about 3 yrs. old and didn't start blooming until last fall. it's a dwarf brug and my only complaint about the short ones is that i like to look up into the bloom but i can't with this one.
There is no such thing as a dwarf Brug. Your Brug is not growing for other reasons. In in zone 9a, Brugs should come back if they freeze down to the ground. Covering it temporarily with a blanket should protect it from infrequent frosts.
I see what look like rocks at your Brugs base. If they are rocks, remove them and replace with some sort of organic mulch which help keep the roots cooler than rocks. Brugs require lots of fertilizer, up to twice a week if in pots. I don't know how much they need when in the ground because I only started putting plants in the ground this year, but certainly more than used with other plants as Brugs are heavy feeders. They also need more water than many other plants. Your plant is probably not growing due to lack of fertilizer. Next spring start a new fertilizer program with your Brug and you'll see a dramatic difference. I you can keep it from freezing down to the ground, it should get even bigger next year.
i thought about that word "dwarf" after i had posted and realized that i should have clarified my post. what i meant was that this brug (according to what i've read) is a fairly compact plant. it isn't supposed to get over 5' tall. naturally, freezing to the ground didn't help matters. it gets plenty of food and water and there is organic mulch under that light coating of rock. the rock is there strictly to hold the mulch in place as this area gets run-off from the driveway during downpours. our freeze was in late march if i remember correctly, so it has actually grown and bloomed pretty well for getting such a late start. i think new growth started coming up in may. i don't know. that's seven months. maybe it should be bigger in seven months? i plan on putting a blanket on it this winter if we have a freeze. thanks for your input. i appreciate the good tips.
