New Zealand Flax 'Maori Chief'
Absolutely gorgeous!
They really are quite the eye catching visual in a garden.
Yes a neighbour across from my garden has a huge one, and I love the movement it makes. There are some lovely cultivars out there now.
I have been growing quite a few as I was quite taken with them when they first made an appearance in California. I have found many do not have stable color which is too bad. They can get muddy looking after a couple of years. I have been tossing a lot.
There is a huge display of them planted in front of the Colesium in Oakland, Ca. They were intense in their colors of pinks. 2years later and they all are muddy brown. So sad. I was so looking forward to driving down 880 and watch them grow over the coming years.
