Been wanting to try multi-flowering white hyacinths and ordered white ones. They're pricey even on sale but wanted to sate my curiosity.

Every website says they are "are wonderfully fragrant and reminiscent of the old Roman Hyacinths."

I have no idea what Roman Hyacinths were. Anyone ever grow or see them? Or grow the "multi-flowering" hyacinths? Do they come back? How do they compare to the regular hyacinths? More fragrant or the same?

I have those Hyacinthus orientalis var. albulus and it is one of my favorite bulbs. I get them from Buggy crazy. Very frag, but it is their loose, but stately habit that I love. April 19th and they have come back for the last three years. I keep adding a few more as they are pricey. Patti

Thanks Patti. They're more loosely formed than I thought. They look something like chionodoxa or bluebells. The photo at Van Engelen makes them look more compact than what you have and what I see elsewhere on the net.

These (Buggy crazy's) may be different than the ones they are selling. I ordered some of theirs too, but won't know until they bloom next spring. Thanks for the sale head's up. I ordered some this morning and forgot that I had a 30.00 credit from my fall order and they applied it without asking. Nice folks, great bulbs. I do hope they have the final big sale at Thanksgiving, though I am pretty much ready to say, enough! Well, sort of ready. Patti

I just placed an order with Van Engelen, and found that the prices on some items had gone down from what was written on the list. You see this once they are in your 'shopping cart' and it is a nice surprise. Last year I waited until Thanksgiving to see if the priced would be further reduced, and just about nothing I was interested in was still available.

maury...I noticed that too last year so I took the 15% off. The further discount wasn't available on what I ordered last weekend. What it amounted to was 1% above list delivered (I'm in CT and have to pay the sales tax).

Ordered from the Touch of Nature sale too:
