Lovely Lady is a Monika Gottschalk Hybrid, ( Bolero X's Apricot Queen) imported from Germany. L.L. adapted well to the climate of Louisiana, growing fast under a shade tree near my GH. Beautiful, full double bright white blooms fill the evening air with a delightful fragrance.
Lovely Lady
Pretty cannagirl! Looks like she's loaded, too!
That really is Beautiful.. Nice to hear that she can tolerate the heat.. So many Dbls. whimp out when the temps start to rise...
Kylie
Thanks AuntB! Yes, Lovely Lady produced a lot of beautiful blooms for me. Very heavy bloomer.
Kylie, I have also noticed some doubles can't tolerate our Louisiana heat, singles too....even putting them in shade they wilt down with our noon sun. I can say how many times I've had to go water these brugs to perk the foliage back up....and they were watered the day before! So far, non of my Monika Gottschalk brugs are prone to wilt down from heat. Most are growing under a shade cloth and until recently, I had several growing in a quarantine area of my yard where they got six hours of sun each day. Not the first problem with wilted foliage! This was a very nice suprise growing these German imports.
Christa, she sure is growing beautiful! You imported Lovely Lady this past May? Yours looks about the same size as mine.

Cannagirl.. That is wonderful to hear.. and Congrats on all of your Beautiful Brugs!! During the hottest part of the Summer which was 107~105*F for days at a time I was having to water twice a day..I swear (in my neighborhood anyway) that sinking a pot in the ground is the way to go..Seems to hold water longer ..I don't feed much but I am working on it..We have cattle so I have always just used the over whelming supply of By -Product..LOL I think I need to to more or better..
Kylie
Dollie, it's great to hear they tolerate the heat well.
Kylie, do you compost the "By-Product first? Do you let it dry before picking it up? Do you have dairy or beef cattle? We have beef cattle. I've been tempted, but would have to use more fuel to go around collecting the poop.
Dollie, mine were imported December 2007, one year ago.
Kylie, Isn't it great to have some of the best natural fertlizer right in your own pasture? It makes any plant, tree, or shurb grow fast & healthy.
Betty, you let the "cow paddies" dry out first. You can break it up easy with gloves and hand tool, mixing it into the ground around plants, or mixing into potting soil. You can also make a "tea" with this natural fertlizer and pour directly over your plants.....Don't use on any plant in your house....this homemade recipe is very smelly for a couple of days.
My sister Trish Ann has beef cattle and I've used this in my homemade fertlizer recipes with excellent results. I have horses and that recipe works just as good. I've heard that chicken & sheep is the best to use for homemade fertlizer. Using Ken's recipe & the homemade fertlizer recipes have saved me tons of money this summer.....and my G.H. & gardens are full of lush, green, healthy plants.
Christa, I thought you got L.L. the sametime as me. She seems to love your hot climate just as well as she loves the humidity & heat here.
