I have a Hass avocado planted in my garden and now have a Feurte to plant as it's fruiting mate. How far apart should they ideally be planted for successful fruiting?

How far apart for Avocado Trees?
Wow, I grew up in a home with a Hass and Fuerte in the backyard, about 30 feet apart. I always wondered why we even bothered with the Fuerte because the fruits were not that good, even when we got any. As a child I didn't know the Hass needed a mate!
I beg to differ. I have Hass, Fuerte and Reed. Planted about 17 feet apart. The Hass is the best and most consistent producer, but the least tasty of the three. The Reed is the meatiest and most flavorfull. The Fuerte is sporatic in production and never heavily laden, but superior in taste, texture and oil content to the Haas. In reality all three are excellent avocados.
How you plant and care for them is far more important than how far apart you plant them. They will cross pollinate from quite a distance. But if their roots are not happy they won't give you good quantity or quality fruit.
I remember the Hass being the ugliest, but the best tasting (to me). The Fuerte had avocados some years but not others. I have never tried a Reed...
Thanks for the help. I shall plant the Fuerte tomorrow!
