where oh where did you get this at? I want one !!!!!!!!!

Gainesville, FL

I have had this plant for many years, probably over 10. I got my first start from a friend, who picked it up at a plant sale in Miami area.

If you click on the PlantFiles link, there is a vendor listed.

Beautiful specimen, and beautiful environment, thanks for adding it to PF and welcome both of you to Davesgarden!

I am sure there are many vendors for it. I know it gets sold on eBay a lot. We are lucky, we can buy it locally. Its commonly sold as an aquatic plant here but its not too cheap...about $20 for a 6" pot.

They do reproduce easily though, if you get one, you will always have it. They do need to be kept warm and they need a lot of light or they may go dormant. I let the ones that grow out in my yard go down every year with the frost, they come back like gangbusters so its not a problem, but I do love my huge specimens in the greenhouse that are almost 6 ft tall, they have never been allowed to go dormant.

I was at the Sea World Discovery Cove years ago when it first opened and they had some large specimens planted out on the grounds. They were about 6 ft as well.
