Talula's 1st Egg!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Well, just shy of 4 weeks after Lacey started laying, Talula laid her first egg this afternoon!

I was beginning to second guess myself ... see other posts ... but I just knew that her egg would look significantly different from Lacey's.[For those of you that I haven't chatted with much, Lacey is a silver laced cochin and Talula is a red spotted sussex.]

I'm attaching a picture that has Lacey's 1st egg, an egg that she just laid, and Talula's 1st egg for comparison.

The picture doesn't do it much justice, but it is just gorgeous. Looks like it has the same base color as Lacey's but has very heavy cream colored spotting to make it almost cream colored all the way across.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Well worth the wait! :)

It is so beautiful and large for a first.

I have some speckled Sussex eggs to arrive this week--it will be interesting to compare them with Talula's. I hope they look just like it.

Thanks Cat and Teresa!

Cat,
Can't wait to hear more about your speckled sussex's. Talula is a very pretty bird with the largest comb and waddles of the group. I just LOVE that she's squating now. She hadn't gotten as used to us as Lacey or Anya. So now I can catch her -- sometimes. ha!

I estimated she was about 2-4 weeks younger than Lacey. So I think she's right on schedule for laying. :)
