Oh No! I was afraid that might happen. Technicaly, it looks like you were 1 minute ahead!! :) LOL.
Sweetbay: you have all kinds os stuff bloomin'!
Chamthy: I have one lone callibrachoa still blooming. Pretty amazing. Came across a lone petunia blossom yesterday, too.

Good to see sunshine and blooming! Between the rain and the time change( and voting and dentist appt) I haven't seen my garden since Sunday:( It's no wonder I get depressed this time of year.
On a brighter note I have been enjoying the photo contest. I think there are quite a few that I recognize:)
Shari that's a great picture of the Miscanthus. That's a grass that I didn't used to like too much -- I think because it's usually used badly -- think commercial plantings, or stuck somewhere by itself -- but it really works in a good garden setting.
We need to do a salvia trade next summer, or late in spring. :) April is too soon and fall is too late.
It always kind of amazes me how much cold asters and roses can stand up too. The annuals and real tender stuff is gone, blackened by the frost, but the asters and roses are fine. It takes a real freeze to knock them down. It's a good thing too, considering how late Miss Bessie's blooms.
Sweetbay103,
In the above picture of "foxi Pavement" the foilage looks so healthy. Is that due to treatments you use or is this one a disease hardy plant? I have so much trouble here in N.C. with rose diseases. The only ones I have that stay leaf healthy is my knockouts and one "Queen Elizabeth"
Sweetbay, I especially love Archuke Charles and that early morning aster shot!
Chamthy: I too have missed my garden this week! I've been taking similar shots of my miscanthus recently. So pretty when lit up like that.
Lynda, the rugosas are disease-free. They don't need spraying and if they were sprayed they would become sick. Sounds odd but it's true! I don't spray any of my roses. The best roses in my garden have been teas (not hybrid teas), chinas, noisettes, polyanthas, rugosa species and hybrids, R. palustris scandens, R. carolina and virginiana, and some of the climbers like Mermaid. I get them mail-order from Antique Roses Emporium, Roses Unlimited, Ashdown Roses, and Vintage Roses. Rogue Valley Roses is supposed to be very good two. I've gotten some beautiful own-root Hansas from Witherspoon in Durham.
Thank you Deb!
Sweetbay: Do you have a photo of the entire plant of your Honorine Jobert? Catalogs only have close up shots of the flowers and I'm teribble with their descriptions. I really want to order this plant, but I don't want to if I don't have a good spot for it.
If you have a pic, would you post it or d-mail it to me?
Many thanks! (Love that Aster!)
Deb
Beautiful pictures everyone! It's surprising how much is still blooming in spite of the frosts. My purple aster is still blooming - frost doesn't bother it at all. The hedychiums are done - foliage is turning brown and no more blooms after they were frozen.
Here is an oddball - a single Lilium formosanum flower on a short stem. Never seen one bloom this late in the year before.
Here is Salvia madrensis. Some of the leaves got a bit of frost damage but it's still blooming. In last month's thread I think someone asked for seeds - it never forms seeds because cold weather will kill it long before any seeds have a chance to mature. But ask me again in the spring and I can dig some up.
