My HG has been blooming like crazy this year and producing seed pods, but I have not been able to do much after back surgery. Now I CAN and I see a pod ripening... Would anyone like to trade? HG grows beside Creamsickle... who knows?

H.G. might do nicely with Goldenes Kornett, Bernstein, Halloween, or even Creamsickle as the mom. You're lucky to get some pods on this one. She was always hard for me. Who knows though, you could get very lucky or not depending on the pollen though. I'd wait a bit longer though for the pod to get further along before you start trading.

HG does have parts in the flower. Lol, although I admit they are often deformed and hard to find. Still, you have seed pods while many others have tried in vain to get seed pods or even flowers from HG. You should be happy in my book to have some pods at all on this one. I have heard of some hybridizers intentionally getting seed pods on HG however. I never had much luck with HG and got rid of her myself in the late 90's. I will admit she has a beautiful color when she blooms however and if you get a single seedling out of this cross who has the same orange or better you will have something worth working with in my opinion. You just never can tell what your going to get from a cross, but at least you know what the mom is on this one which will mean that regardless of the color you can always take your best one and cross it back to another double orange and hope for the best with reasonable expectations if you have an entire seed pod to grow and cross just a handful of seedlings back to a nice orange. I'd bet my money on the fact that you get at least one light orange regardless of the cross if you grow out the entire seed pod. If that light orange is a double... all the better. I'd still hold out hope for one dark orange though. If this is your only cross, I'd be hard pressed not to grow them all out myself just to see what lady luck has in store for me.

I'm excited here for you. Do you have any other oranges or double oranges you can cross the seedlings with once they start to bloom? There are a few double oranges floating around I'm sure and these might make good dads to your seedlings as well as Bernstein or one of the other nice oranges posted here:
