Thank you Chicken Fairy

Kingman, AZ(Zone 7a)

I raise a boy that is not mine,Billy, he is almost 3 years old and he lives out here on the ranch with me. He has chores and it is his job to feed the chickens, get the eggs and water the horses. He does them too... Anyhoo his brother Dodge who is 5 came to visit us today and needless to say he is a city boy. Dodge was not sure about the horses, they kind of scared him. He finally reached up and touched one when Billy was talking to his horse. With the horses watered and fed, Billy and I set off with Dodge bringing up the rear, to the chicken area to feed them, not really sure what to make of the chickens. Billy ran in to the coop and was excited that there were eggs. (Our chickens got scared the other day and have really not been laying) I had been praying to the chicken fairy that there would be eggs for the boys to get... SURE enough there were two eggs, one for each boy. Dodge was not sure if he should go get the egg, I made him do it. He carried that egg very careful all the way back to the house. He was so excited.... I told him he could eat the egg for supper tonight if he wanted, and his smile told me I would be making eggs for supper tonight.

Thank you Chicken Fairy for my girls laying 2 eggs, one for each boy to carry...

PS Just thought I would share.

Update:
Dodge and Billy ate 4 scrambled eggs between them for supper. Then we went out and watched the sun go down and the stars come out, something me and Billy do on most nights. I let the boys ride the bikes up and down my driveway road, and they had a blast... Right now they are in the bath tub turning the water brown. Dodge asked me if he could help with the chores tomorrow, I got to get that boy proper boots instead of his sisters red ones... Dodge will be staying out here for a few days, and if things go my way he will move out here to the ranch till he is 18 and hands me his High School diplomia. He will live with me and Billy, the chickens, horses, dogs and new cats. Oh and I will get him his own horse so he can learn responsibility just like his brother has.... It was a good day here at the ranch and I am sure once the boys hit the bunks, they will be fast asleep.

Goodnight to all...

What a lovely story.

I used to live with and work with a lady who had a ranch. She would always tell me that if she would take in a stray dog, cat, horse, goat, or other animal, she would take in stray kids too. I always tthought hose were words to live by. I wasn't really a stray, but I was certainly troubled by the time I met her as a highschool dropout at 17. I lived with her for several years working with her horses and going back to school at her encouragment. Now I have a college degree, and am getting ready to go back to school for an advanced degree. I hope I someday have the opportunity to do the same for another person.

I respect you for taking care of others who are not by societies standards your responsibility. Good luck, and I hope they appreciate you one day as much as I appreciate the wonderful woman who helped me.

Missjester the world needs more people like you , bless your heart ! . Those are some lucky boys . :)
many T&P to you and the boys :)

I am working on it the wheels of justice move very slow in this town....

Hi there Missjester! Great story, but most of all it is great that you not only took the boys in but are raising them to become responsible citizens. We in society all owe you a great deal of gratitude. Turning children out on society who have not been taught responsibility is a true miscarriage of justice, while having been taught by persons like you they become a true blessing to all of us. Thank you for your kindness to all of us. By the way, did you ever find your horse. I surely hope so. Thanks again Haystack.

How sweet! This is such a great experience for those boys! They are so fortunate to have a caring person to be there for them. It warmed my heart to read your experience! Thank you! Those boys are precious!!

T&P for you Missjester :)
