Hi. I sent the seeds today. Just in case you decide to get some cuttings, you might want to check out the Propagation forum - there is a thread called "Any tips on rooting a butterfly clerodendrum." It turns out that a lot of people are having problems propagating them from cuttings. Use woody stems and root-tone, in soil, they say.

I bet it matters what stage the plant is in whether the cuttings will take or not. Right now my mother plant is in overdrive, putting up lots of shoots. It is mostly done flowering, so it is in vegetative mode right now. I'll experiment...

I've got this plant, and did have luck this spring rooting a couple of cuttings. Those have been given away, but I'd be glad to give it another go- it has gotten huge and really needs to be cut back anyway. I didn't do any research before trying the cuttings, just a spur of the moment thing one day while taking cuttings of coleus. They were soft wood cuttings and seemed to root easily- there were roots visible in the drainage holes when I gave them away. BrightStar, I think you may be on to something about the stage of growth- I'm curious about that too. Fun to do some experimenting and report and compare our results :-)

Mine has been in overdrive too, but is slowing down now that its indoors and getting cooler. This is my 2nd year with it, and the size of the clusters of bloom wowed me!

Mine has strong shoots upwards, but other branches that are laying on the ground. Maybe it roots best when still attached to the mother plant...
