DaffSeek Improved

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

The new and improved Daffseek is up and running--and in several new languages now too.

I find this an invaluable resource for finding the extra early varieties that do best in the deep south. But is also an invaluable resource for anyone wanting to grow daff's.

And membership in the American Daffodil Society and The Texas daffodil Society make it possible to obtain varieties with proven track records in the deep south and aren't the usual varieties found with the normal online vendors. Membership in your local chapters is usually only $10.00 and well worth it just for the inside sales of varieties not commonly found in commerce. I know I got bags of 20 (and sometimes more) fantastic lesser known varieties for $3.00 this year. Basically they are fund-raisers and like co-op buys for the membership. And this also applies to all areas of the country:

Most of my daff varieties new to me this year have been in the ground for at least a month now. Have you finished planting yet?

Debbie, Thanks for posting about the changes. Love Daffseek. It is so helpful. I am a member of the ADS, but haven't seen any sales, but maybe that is a good thing as I have bought too many already. I won't start planting until next week, but I have a guest room that is dark and cool that is now full the bulbs that I ordered that are ready to plant. I have to finish printing out the labels and DH and I need to finish the final clean up of the gardens before we begin the marathon bulb planting. But he has his trusty electric auger at the ready. Here is a wander through our bulb beds last spring between March 23rd and May 30th. I have a lot of pictures to label, but I have labelled more of the narcissus. If any are wrong, please let me know. Sorry, you haven't heard about any of the local sales Patti--they come to me through emails and daffnet and shout outs from the local chapters. A lot of the midwest chapters have had sales announced on daffnet this year.

I wish I had time to go through your photo's and help you id them--but I'm self employed so time is rare.

Well it seems that the West does not plant these since we are not represented!!

I thought they had a CA chapter Marie--there are several American daff growers in CA. Bill's out there--he has great Tazetta's that do really well for me:

I have some of his Tazetta's--that pic I showed you on your SW thread were some of his I've had a few years now. I have never gotten anything other than Tazetta's from him so I can't personally vouch for the rest of his daff's.

How are you today?
=)
Found his actual price list for ya:
