I was so proud of my dog, Chestnut, last night I just have to tell someone. I needed to go out to my truck last night. I live in the country without close neighbors, it was very dark and the wind was blowing. I was being SILLY because I usually am never scared and wasn't last night just weirded out. LOL I am reading a book about serial killers, was watching a tv show about serial killers and have read all kinds of ghost stories lately due to Halloween so yes I was being silly.... yet. I asked Chestnut if he wanted to go out with mom. He weighs about 75 lbs but he lives in the house with the other dogs. Even though I live in the country unless I am with them they have to be in a fenced in area. I feel like I live too close to the dirt road for them to just roam unattended plus we have lost dogs to coyotes.
When we got to the back door even though he rarely goes out that door he knew I wanted him to go with me. He went out onto the back porch first and out the porch door first. He ran out to the truck and around it then sat down and waited for me to get my bag out of the truck. Then we walked in together.
He has never been trained to do anything like this. I guess he was picking up on my emotions. He is Sharpei, not full blood, even though we were told he was when we bought him unless there is a different type of Sharpei, he doesn't have but two wrinkles around his neck. There are no wrinkles at all on his head.
I know it doesn't sound like much compared to rescue dogs and all but I was amazed and wanted to share. Thank you for listening.
