Guineas are hatching and the second one hatched has a "bubble" in it's neck. Almost like his crop is full of air and water. Anyone ever seen this before? Seems to be doing okay otherwise just looks real funny.
Help any ideas?
Maybe a hernia? I've never seen anthing like that before.
Help!
i have but it probably isnt the same i had one look like that and the vet said ruptured lung but the yolk sack had broken inside it and you could see the yolk wooshing around through the skin but that on looks pretty normal just with a buble
Not sure what to suggest for this - it isn't normal but then sometimes some chicks aren't quite right from the start and they turn out OK. Other times they are just not meant to be. Definitely get it in the warmth of a brooder lamp. Better to wait until it's dry to be handling it too much - it really needs to get warm and fluffy so that it is insulated and maybe the bump will subside.
He could have inhaled air into his crop causeing it to bubble.
He seems just fine today.
I wonder if it was like harmony said and it inhaled air into crop. Being that he just hatched and all normally we don't see them that close until they are dry so maybe it is common and just don't know it.
Thanks for eveyone's help.
Could be Karbear it looked like his crop was full of air.
What is Karbear?
