Odd places caterpillars pupate photos please

Edinburg, TX

Hey ya'll...I subscribe to Butterfliesetc.com's newsletter and this month they are asking for photos of an odd place where you have found pupae - indoors or outdoors.

You can email your photo to: edith@buyabutterfly.com and use the subject line of "Places Caterpillars Pupate" or check out their website photos:
http://www.butterfliesetc.com/oddplacestopupate.php

Let's all share our odd and funny places photos where we have found a chrysalis on this Dave's Garden post as well as send them to ButterfliesEtc.

I sent this one in of a Giant Swallowtail pupating on a Forbes Rothschild Silkmoth cocoon :o)

Here is one, I have more to find.

This was inside a cage, I moved the cat off once, but came back and it was there again. Both eclosed just fine btw.

I will send them, haven't yet. Here is a few others I will be sending.
I have a light fixture at my door and noticed the GF hanging at the bottom then I noticed two more on it! The Passion Vine is over 30 foot away.

This GF chrysalis is about 35 foot from the vine and on the bottom of a garden bench.

This GF wasn't too far from the vine (12 foot) but under a yard art birdhouse. Then as I looked closer at the picture I saw another under the roof!

About 20 foot from the Milkweed a Monarch got away from me and pupated at the top frame of a shop door. Good thing it was the side that we don't open very often!

Last one is a statuary that has a hat. One BST made it's chrysalis there then another followed suit. The parsley & dill is only about 6 foot away.

Love the one hanging from the bird house roof...you have one in the basement and one in the attic :o) Way cool on the ones on the garden statue too...is that the new cell phone earpiece :o) heh heh!

I know what you mean about those monarchs pupating on door frames. The Queens and GFs to that around my front porch security gate. I have to check it periodically and move them if they are in harm's way.

I guess they crawl up and toward the light maybe, not sure.
