Marie, you just need to come to TX. Maybe you can make one of the RU's here. You can stay with me (since I know for sure that you are not an old man sitting in front of a computer in his shorts.... planning an axe murder.) :-)
From my home we are within 1 1/2 hrs from the Rose Emporium (need to plan plenty of time there), 45 minutes to Arbor Gate, 45 minuted to Martha's Bloomers, 45 minutes to Buchanan's Native Plants, about 1 1/2 hrs from Nelson's Water Gardens, and best of all.... an hr away from Ella!
Really, maybe you could come sometime. I need someone to tell me if I have spinach stuck in my teeth. :-)
Missed lots of speaker sessions, we left early mid Saturday thanks to my bum leg which has been a real pain this fall and cramps my get around style in a big way. Stll, things could be worse and I'm grateful they're not.
Mike Shoupe did his usual polling of where people are from and very few (maybe 3) were from Houton. He speculated it's because of the hurricane and the entire body of people sent out symphathies to the affected Gulf Coast. You were missed.
The old and quaint gift shop/office burned to the ground Feb. and a new structure has taken it's place. It's bright and sunshiny and very nice but will take some getting used to (by cling to the past me).
The roses were unusually beautiful thanks to weather conditions leading up to the weekend. Amazing blooms on vigorous plants. Really lovely.
So; same time, same place next year. Hope to see you there.
Mary I would love to take you up on that. But I need to save up first cause I have no doubt I will need to ship a lot of plants back home!!
Oh and I will still make sure you do not have any spinach in your teeth :o) and I promise no ax murdering going on with me. I willa dmit to seed borrowing though when I am out and about.
