I have 4 seed pods!!! I've waited over a week to say anything in case they fell off. They are growing. I crossed Frosty Pink with Jutner Orange. I was so happy to see them growing, I went to the green house and hand polinated every brug bloom that I could find.

I can't get any pods to set on Ecuador Pink, can I use it as a pollen parent?

Calalilly,
I find Ecuador pink to be a much better pollen setter than seed setter if that hellps you out at all. Versicolor peach is better in my oppinion to set seeds to, but I use it as a pollen donor as well. I only have 1 seedpod on my Versicolor peach right now, but I have tons of seedpods from its pollen forming....I do have a wonderful Dr.Sues x Ecuador pink hybrid that is exceptional in its ability to set seed and has above average pollen to boot. Flower on that hybrid resembles a candida peach while the seedpod is definitly versicolor looking.

Cala, call it Frosted Orange, anyone who's ever been to Atlanta's famous Varsity would appreciate it:)

Is frosty pink the pollen donor or seed setter by the way...which one is developing seeds? I have found Frosty pink to have exceptionall seed and pollen so its good both ways. It children in turn tend to be highly active both ways as well.

I put pollen from FP to Jutner Or. and vice-versa. They were the only two varieties I had open at the time. I've got Suaveolens white, FP and JO almost ready to open, which should I cross? The Ecuador P is just tiny buds, not ready to open yet. They seem to bloom in "flushes". I have an "Isabella" that is budded too, but my luck it will be all alone blooming!!

Cala-I would personally cross the Jutner orange to everything and use it as the primary pollen donor with what you have open right now or about to open. I say that because I have hundreds of different frosty pink seedlings in bloom right now and therefor think I have enough to work with for a time with her. As for the others not being ready to bloom yet-if the buds are almost poking out of the calyx simply rip the calyx open and apply the pollen early.
