Need Software Advice - to make DVD with pictures & music

Recently went to Italy for 10 days; would like to make a DVD with the pictures accompanied by music. Would like to be able to put labels right on the pictures describing them.

Does anyone have a suggestion for software to buy to accomplish this?

My daughter did one from a trip she went on and it was very nice. She said she would like software with more flexibility than the one she used. Sorry, I don't know what she used.
