I found this on a Physocarpus opulifolius 'Coppertina' (ninebark). Can anyone ID this?
What kind of larvae?
The first thing I saw is simply a moth species which larvae feed on leaves of Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius) and probably gooseberry (Ribes spp.) But no larvae pictures to back it up......but maybe a start.....

There are two records in BFiles with the same genus, but no record of this species is ID'd yet in Bfiles.

my guess would be in the Genus Paonias ....
but certainly a guess. Your cat looks like a hornworm type cat, which would narrow it down into the Sphinx family of moths.....

Thank you, pford. Those Paonias are very cool. I was hoping it'd be something striking.
I also posted on the Bug and Spider forum and got this reply: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917310/
great. sounds like you have a match in the noctuid moths in the genus Acronicta.
thanks for sharing.
